How Do I Use MagicFeatures Dashboard?
MagicFeatures works, for the most part, just like a regular phone. Just pick up the phone and listen for a dial tone, then dial a number. MagicFeatures works in the background.
Some of the new features work entirely automatically. For example, if you're in the 212 area code without MagicFeatures, you'd need to dial 212-xxx-xxxx to connect to another number in the 212 area code. With MagicFeatures, just dial xxx-xxxx. Dialing only 7 digits for local calls is minor benefit, but it's nice – and it's automatic.
You turn other features on or off in the MagicFeatures dashboard. They will work automatically thereafter. For example, to block anonymous callers, check the box for “Anonymous Call Block” in the dashboard. You can also select whether blocked calls go to voice mail or simply get a busy signal in the dashboard. Settings such as these are typically ‘set it and forget it' type settings, but they can be easily toggled on or off.
To allow calls only from colleagues, friends, and family, put a check the “Priority Calls Only” box. If you want to silence your phone altogether, put a check in the “Do Not Disturb” box. When you want to let all callers ring through again, go back and uncheck the box in the dashboard.
Other features in the MagicFeatures dashboard may require occasionally changes. For example, if a telemarketer continually pesters you, you could go into the dashboard and add that number to the “Selective Call Rejection Table”. Once you've added a number, it won't ring through to your magicJack again. You can also block toll free numbers, specific area codes (or an exchange within an area code), etc.
Still other features need to be setup in the MagicFeatures dashboard, but can be controlled them from your phone. For example, using a phone without MagicFeatures, you have to fire up your computer, log into your magicJack account, and turn on call forwarding. When you no longer need call forwarding, you must log back into your magicJack account to turn it off.
To use call forwarding with MagicFeatures, first setup MagicFeatures' Call Forwarding Assistant. Once setup is complete, it takes only seconds to turn call forwarding on (or off) – directly from your phone.
I've rambled on long enough, so I won't go into depth on these and other MagicFeatures. Feel free to read more about MagicFeatures capabilities.
Your magicJack remains plugged into your computer, and MagicFeatures works in the background. You never need to see the MagicFeatures dashboard or the magicJack softphone unless you want to change the settings.
Your day suddenly becomes more enjoyable; life is good.
